Ok, I know I'm anal, but I'm still not happy with the sweater. The top, boobs up, is actually alright, but I hate the bottom half. It's too big (4" ease on me is too much) and too short. The placement of the pockets means they start right under my bust and give me a strange waist/tummy pooch.
My first thought was to frog the whole thing and start over. Then I posted on revelry and got the wonderful suggestion of cutting and grafting. As scary as cutting the bottom half off and re-knitting it is, it's less scary than starting the whole thing over. I'm not ready to do it yet, but I think it's what I'm going to do. i've put too much time, energy and money to have this sweater turn out as something I don't like and don't wear. The whole point of knitting your own clothes is so they fit, right?
Live and learn.
Oh, and in good news, dh and I finally decided on a new camera. if they have it at Costco (not just costco.com) I'll have pics tonight!
And in other good news, my final Food Class ended really well. i got to walk the students through Sweetness and Power and we had a pretty good discussion. i've discovered that they really seem to benefit from dissecting a book and an argument (well, especially when they haven't read it... hence the "walking/dragging through"), and the potluck was wonderful! Not surprisingly, foodie kids can cook.
yay for foodie kids!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I am all about food club bake offs and volunteering to be judge again. When is that?
Congrats on finishing the course! And I can't blame you for wanting to restart the sweater. Better to work longer on something you'll wear and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure on the food club, they sort of went into hibernation last year. However, I've got new bread recipes to throw at them this year :)
