Sleep glorious sleep

Bucket has hit the evil little gremlin stage of his short life. While he was doing great at sleeping for 3-4 weeks, for some reason on Sunday he's decided that he doesn't want to sleep for long periods anymore, but prefers the 2-hour window (meaning, eat for 50 min, sleep for 70 min, wake and repeat). He's also dealing with some crazy gas which also wakes him up (seriously, cat can't poop, kid can't fart... it's a mess all up in here), sometimes every 10 min. I was up 8 times last night between 11 and 6:30. Yeah, let me repeat how glad I am that I finished my dissertation before he was born...

And then, after a gloriously long nap from 8-10:30, I was greeted with this:

Totally an evolutionary development to prevent sleep deprived parents from leaving their infants for the coyotes. At least he smiles in the morning.

We're hoping this is a growth spurt; I'll ask the doctor tomorrow. I'm dreading tomorrow, when he gets his vaccines and the potential for fussiness/not sleeping is even higher.

For now, we're off to a museum to look at paintings.

  1. If I could figure out why my kids had to extract a pound of flesh from me, then I could figure out how to keep that little gremlin from extracting pounds of flesh from you....Wouldn't that be great? Pete Seeger said, "Parents are the hardest working people, but they do it for the high wages....kisses!

  2. It is uncanny how much Oona in "Kelly and the little things" looks like Rocky Cat who was our cat when Luke was the new wee bairn in my arms.
