Making it all worthwhile

Being a parent is hard. Being a mom (or the one doing most of the feedings) is really hard. It means little sleep, quick meals eaten one-handed standing up, and a significant decrease in the amount of time you get to spend doing your own thing (cooking, knitting, running, climbing, etc).

But then you hit a point around week 7 or 8 and you start to get treated to mornings that come after several more hours of sleep in a row. And you know you're really doing it right when this is how your son wakes up after sleeping from 9:30pm - 9:30 am, only getting up at 4 and 8 for feedings:

Things are getting back to "normal" - we've had a couple of dinners that lasted 20-30 min (generally baby next to us in the pack n play and we alternate who holds the pacifier/shakes the mobile/pats his tummy), gone through a couple bottles of wine and are nearly done with L's baby beer. We even caught up on Dr. Who and watched the end of Fringe. Yesterday we took a day trip to Tombstone that included a 1.5 hour car trip, something unthinkable a few weeks ago.
