Luke's arriving in just under 12 hours! I'm so excited I can't sleep. A good friend asked if we had any plans and all I could think is that I hope it rains so we don't have to leave the flat. I have excellent cheese, bread, good beer, and my love it coming. I might not be posting much in the next few days b/c I expect we'll be tied up (or at least hope so).

on the agenda: London sights, lots of real ales in pubs, thai food and cider (can't afford champagne here), indian food on brick lane, a trip to york and edinburgh, lots of bread and cheese, tea, running, Beowulf in Old English, and a million other things I can't want to write about.

Yeah, research was pretty much useless today. Although I did get some good networking in at the post-seminar dinner. The Brits do it right: seminar, to a pub, then to dinner where the grads are caped at a per head payment b/c, well, it's assumed we're poor ass broke. I met lots of nice people and now just have to remember their names.

Seriously though, US pubs suck donkey balls - we seriously need a better pub culture.
