Update and then a hiatus

The quarter is into full swing, my in-laws are staying for a week, and we move in two weeks.

Thesis - almost done with the Euing collection (a published collection of over 300 broadsides)! Research is coming along, but I'm seriously slacking and not getting enough done. In London news, I've been struggling to find an 'affordable' place to stay in London (its about as easy as finding 'affordable' short term housing in SC), and it's been causing me no end of worry. However, a colleague hooked me up with a short term leasing office that is further out of the city, but significantly less expensive (130 pounds a week versus 178-210 pounds a week) and for actual studios with bathrooms and kitchenettes rather than just rooms in a dorm-type setting. I'd be about 3 miles away from the British Library - which translates to a 30-40 min public transport commute (yeah, public transport is cheaper, convenient, but not exactly fast), or a 45-60 min walk. Considering who I am and that I won't have a gym/dance to go to... I have the feeling I'll be walking. So at this point I'm looking at London for 6 weeks from mid-Set to late Oct, then hopefully L will visit and we can head to York and Edinburgh, and end up in Oxford for 2 weeks to finish whatever I can't get digitally from here. It means I'll likely be in SC this summer and using my TA sabbatical to fund uninterrupted thesis work this summer. This should all mean I graduate w/in the 6 year time frame I set for myself (laughs nervously).

TA - despite the overall course being a total circus - I feel like the Benny Hill Theme "Yakkity Sax" should be playing at all times - my section is an absolute pleasure. Yup, you heard me. 8:30 am, full of wide eyed frosh, but they talk, and they contribute, and they're actually thoughtful and coherent. I could not ask for more.

Dance - I'm in modern and ballet this quarter and still rehabing my ankle. Modern is a hoot, and I'm slowly working my way back to the full class in ballet.

Softball - yup it's that time again, and yup, i already have a bruise from the ball hitting me rather than me catching it (can you guess where?)

Move - happening on May 2 so i don't anticipate much blogging until then. I'm experiencing major blog guilt at the frequency and thoughtfulness of a friend's recent blogging activity, maybe it'll translate into something once we're done relocating.

Cookies - I have one more exciting recipe to post, I'll make them tomorrow and post photos.
