A recipe for destressing

The Spring quarter always starts out rough for me. I think it's because with grades due we only get a longish weekend for Spring Break, and you're barely recovered from evals by the time you've started your next set of classes. That being said, I'm TAing for the Holocaust this quarter, and it's going much better than expected. It's a circus to be sure - 10 TAs, 2 professors, 360 students, mainly freshman - but I knew it was going to be a circus, which makes it easier to deal with. The readings are good, the kids are engaged, and I only lead one section a week.

This week was absorbed in preparations for a 12-person 2nd night seder at our place. It was a lot of work, but an absolute blast. Wonderful people, excellent food, and good discussion and debate. And, I really think the pre-packaged kosher mfg. industry is missing out on a market for kosher-for-passover tortillas. I'm sure the first matzo was a soft flat bread, so let's get back to it!
For those who celebrate: Happy Passover, Happy Easter, and happy yay-its-spring-and-candy celebrants.

Finally, a recipe for destressing. Go to the website of the Well Within Spa in SC, call them, and book a spa (for 1, 2, or more!). They hook you up with an indoor or outdoor tub and shower (optional sauna) and warm tasty tea for an hour. There is nothing like a relaxing soak in a private hot tub while looking out at a beautiful garden. Best of all, for 2 students with student ID, it's only $28 ($31 normally for 2 people on a weekend) - less that you'd spend on dinner unless you made the finest dining choice of Taco Bell or Fosters Freeze.*

*which actually I can't rip on too hard - my college friends know of my late night del taco cravings, only partially satisfied in SC by Taco Bell. I swear they put crack in their Fire Sauce

  1. I second your vote for the Well Within. Great place! The Tea House Spa is also very good.

I also second your comments on the seder - a good time was had by all :-) Thanks again for hosting!!
