Fun in the snow, back in the rain

Skiing was a blast. We headed up to South Tahoe on a Fri night, and got there in about 6.5 hours. Friends had booked 17 of us in a kick ass house, complete with sauna and hot tub. Sat was spent skiing - or in my case: falling. It took me a while to remember how to gracefully glide down the slope rather then just than careen down the mountain, headed to an uncertain death. In addition to desperately trying to reengage the (lack of) muscle memory, I spent most of Sat desperately trying to avoid the snowborders who speckled the easier slopes like a dense human forest. Seriously, at least the trees stayed in one place. We finished off our first day with a tasty Swiss cheese fondu back at the house. I also learned the very important lesson of why wine and jacuzzis are good, but only in moderation... and not at high altitudes... or followed by Bud Light... or another rum and coke...

After spending a good part of Sunday morning hung-over as hell, I was back out on the slopes on Sunday with considerable success. The snow scared a number of people off, and the conditions were better overall. I also found a new Celestial Seasonings honey chai that has become a fast favourite. We left on Monday morning, and after playing the put-them-on, take-them-off, tire chain game, and sitting in traffic for 4 hours in South Lake Tahoe alone, we finally returned to a soggy SC. I've been feeling the missed work time this week, but it was worth it. (Photos are courtesy of sandychile)
