I've missed being in the classroom.
Especially when the classroom is 3, lovely, dedicated women.
Who hang on my every word.
Who love the subject matter.
Who exclaim that after an hour lecture they want more and can't wait to go home and read.
And I made cake! Like I was a grown up without a baby!
Earl Grey Chocolate Cake with Orange Blossom water icing.
I've missed teaching.
PS I'm getting even more "why don't you have a job yet? you're fantastic!" Why can't a future search committee member be in one of my classes? It seems like everyone who has seen me work/in the class room doesn't understand why no one will hire me. Yet, none of that translates through my paper applications. Bummer that my university doesn't bring more prestige with it. Maybe I can just become the Temple's resident Jewish historian....
Yay! That sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you!
I also had a student come to me after lecture and ask if I might be willing to do an evening lecture one day about the things we don't have time to cover in class. Possibly, she was just sucking up ahead of their first assignment, but I choose to believe she genuinely likes the class.
Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteyeah! go Kelly! :)
ReplyDeleteYour Mil thinks you are the best teacher on the planet, so I can't figure out why you don't have several university folks waiting outside your door for you to sign the contract, but your mil doesn't seem to be in charge of the universe or much of anything really. so...
