Cryptic title? Nope, just a boring one. Since last we met things are looking cautiously optimistic. I have a publisher interested in one of my academic projects, and I'm hopping on board with a faculty member to apply for a NEH grant to teach a Summer Seminar in 2013.* I finished editing Chapter 1 of my diss (a b/g chapter), and feel pretty good about it. I have 4 major deadlines by March 1, then a conference presentation on March 11. I'm basically tabling diss work until I get through the next couple of weeks. It means I definitely won't be finishing by the end of Spring, but hopefully the distance from the work will give me the perspective I need to launch in as a full-time editing machine post-conference.
My ganglian grows and there's not much I can do about it - so I'll be back to posting as often as it lets me.
Ta ta for now.
*For my hommies from U Ewok Village- Yup, the one that's been taught twice at the Village. Yes, I may well be insane to sign up with this personality but facing no job in 2012 makes one crazy and desperate. Plus I'll get a co-director line on my CV. Besides, I could always use a little extra crazy in my life.
Tell him I'm working on rice. I swear.
ReplyDeleteWill do. part of my job will be to keep harassing you and the others on getting their stuff submitted. Harass, harass, harass.
ReplyDeleteWell if he hadn't asked me to deliver everything in the entire world ever published on rice in this paper it would be much, much easier to complete
