So far two of the schools I applied to (both start with "S" for those in the know) have sent out interview invitations, but none my way.
It's depressing. Expected, anticipated, and still depressing. I'm really feeling the weight of my school's rank and the lack of a big name advisor (my big name on my committee totally flaked and didn't send letters; yes the same one who left me with the freak out comments in September; yes, I got a last minute stand-in).
On the bright side, looks like i won't have to buy a ticket to the Chicago conference, I won't have to ask my husband to leave his job for my career, and maybe we can stop fighting about it. Wow, my life is awesome.
I have two more that I'm waiting to hear from, one of which just started reviewing applications today.Ok, technically I have 3 more, but one of those is such a long shot that I don't have a chance in hell. I guess I can at least look forward to getting the rejections out of the way and getting on with my diss (a whole other "ugh" for the time being).

ReplyDeleteaww, well I hope things start looking up soon... at least you have also outlined what's good/bad. Wish I could be of more help, I mean I could read your cover letters or something next time around? In the meantime I'm thinking of getting some other kind of job.
