Knits!

It's been a very productive winter knitting season, which is good b/c we're now in the 80s during the day and it's time to retire my sweaters. Sigh. That was one good thing about SC for a knitting - it was sweater season all year long.

So here are a few of the larger projects I finished in the last month or so. I apologize for the crappy pics, the stupid expressions, the shitty color, and what looks like a filter on my camera. It's just my cheap, built-in isight which seems to be the only camera in the world that takes worse pics w/ natural light. My house has windows and skylights galore and it makes taking pics a challenge. Plus I'm too lazy to set up the better digital camera and tripod. It's all because I can't spare another second away from my dissertation.  Uh, yeah... that's the ticket....

Without Further Ado:

Here's "Hannah-ish". The original sweater pattern by Kim Hargraves is out of print - so I made this up myself. It is in part inspired by my friend Beetlegirl's lovely stripey maternity top (seriously!). I used 6 skeins of KidSilk Haze (a gift from my dear sister-in-law), and I'm really impressed I designed and knit an entire garment all by myself. I did a bottom-up construction with raglan shaping for the sleeves. I'm most impressed with the neckline, which I converted from a boatneck into a u-necky by knitting to the top of the bust and finishing the shoulders with short row shaping.

Meet Snow White by the genius Ysolda Teague. This is my 2nd Ysolda pattern and it was brilliantly designed. I used 3.5 skeins of Cascade 220 (another gift from my sister-in-law). It took me two tries to get the shoulders/length right, but now it's perfect and I love it. I plan to knit at least one more, but maybe in a cotton blend so I can wear it in Tucson.

The finished version of Sahara that has been sitting, un photographed, in my side bar for months. This is my outfit for today (it's in the mid 70s :) ). This is another extremely well-written patter and I intend to make a second version but in tank form.

Edit: Holy Neon Colors, Batman! looking at this pics has inspired me to take out the real camera next time. Boy, do I look strange...
