I feel busy, but I don't think I'm actually really doing anything at all. Quick update:
1) backpacking in Big Basin = good times. It was my first backpacking trip and it was a blast. Thanks to L,sandychili and Swissastro we got to camp before sundown, consumed a veritable feast, and enjoyed a pleasant hike back to base camp.
2) the new kids are here. So far they are continuing my university's winning combination of brining in totally rad, excited, and beautiful people.
3) L's birthday present arrived: a super thoughtful, super cool gift of interchangable knitting needles! I'm betting that only KnottyHistorian will truly appreciate the wonderfulness of tis gift (as I've been drooling over her set for months now). You can see them here . He went with the beautiful multi colored wood needles after haunting knitting message boards for several days and doing some research on which would be the best material for knitters who get sore wrists. In addition to feeling wonderful, the multi-colored wood tips and rockin' purple chords make the set seriously badass. I haven't used them yet, but you can bet I will.
3a) in other knitting news: I officially don't like knitting with cotton and will try to avoid doing so far into the future. It's heavy, not nearly as elastic as wool and other animal (or even acrylic) fibers, and tires my wrists out. I've been working in Big Bad Baby Blanket for one of our friends and become quite a pain.
A more thoughtful post in the near future.
There's something up with your link, but I found my way. I am very impressed with L's choice: those look amazing! The colors are really neat in the picture. Are they that lovely in person? As you know, I have the metal set and love them. I've practically given up on using straight needles for anything. I anticipate a full report after you start using them and hope that the wood will be easier on your wrists.
ReplyDeleteask and you shall receive ;) They're just as vibrant in real life and I totally love the purple cables. I switched my Rogue over, but have been typing too much to do any really serious knitting. I'm so glad I have at least one other knitter who reads my blg and can share in my knitting joy. I'm also upto 1.5" above the pocket on Rogue!! I'll upload new pics soon.
