A storm blew in last night and it brought with it snow and low temps. It's about 12F and we have light fluffy snowflakes flitting about in the breeze. I probably feel this way b/c I don't live in it, but there are few things I find prettier than falling snow. I'm currently torn between being disappointed that I don't have the ingredients to make cookies and relieved, b/c this weather turns me into a cookie-eating-monster.

So far I'm making incremental progress on my dissertation. I know I've said it before, but this shit's hard. And frustrating. And boring. And no one wants to hear me whine about it for posts on end so I'll shut up now and find a therapist.
But on the knitting end of the spectrum, this trip has been very productive. I'm working with mohair for the first time, and possibly the last time too. It's warm and fuzzy and b/c it doesn't stretch requires a different kind of knitting. But after 3 starts and re-dos I think I finally figured it out. I'm also working on a purple cardi for my SIL's store (www.ltquilts.com) that's going really well. I've had a couple of blips, but that's to be expected. And after finishing a beautiful red pull over only to discover that the shoulders were way too small and distorted the rest of the sweater, I undid the top 30% of the sweater. I've added several more inches to the body and am about 90% done with the re-knitted section. The looser gauge is working wonders and I should be able to wear it w/in the week.
That's all for now, we return to the desert tomorrow.
