Finished Objects

Fellowship application? What fellowship application?
Burnt out from re-working the millions of ways in which I am totally awesome and totally mentor women and am the most amazing teacher in the whole wide world (now please give me money so that I don't have to teach anymore!), I decided to take some long overdue photos of completed knitted objects.

Yes, I know I'm moving to the desert which is, by all accounts, hot. But you can never have too many sweaters...

Meet Vivian - a Brilliant pattern by a brilliant designer. More pear shaped than I am, but that's ok. Well written, made out of Cascade 220. I'm a bad knit blogger so I'm not going to go into details, needle size, dye lots, etc. If you want that info, find me on Ravelry. But the yarn is fantastic and I adore this sweater. the major mods I made were to eliminate one of the 4" cable repeats b/c I'm short.

And now, for knits for the desert! This is the Lemongrass Bolero by Stephanie Japel in Spud and Chloe's Sweater (50% wool, 50% cotton). The yarn is beautiful - soft, warm but not too warm, and very springy. I'd use this more often if it wasn't $12 for 150 yds. I need a shawl/sweater pin, but otherwise it's a great light cardi. Very fast, very easy, very cute.

And a WIP (aren't you lucky! Aren't I procrastinating!)!  This is Sahara by Wendy Bernard. If you knit and you haven't bought either Wendy's Patterns or her excellent book, Custom Knits, go order it from Amazon right now. Her patterns are beautiful, well-thought out and well-shaped. She's very good at guiding knitters through the early stages of figuring out how to customize knits to fit your body so the hours you spent making that sweater actually produce something you wear rather than something that you stuff in the back of your closet. Here is a nearly finished short sleeved version of Sahara in Stitch N Bitch Bamboo Ewe.

I think L would prefer if I word it like this, but I'm actually going to sew the neckline down.

  1. I think you must teach me how to knit before you leave (or at least the basics of knitting, please!) I love the sweaters!
